Abstract

ABSTRACT In September 2005, Library and Archives Canada hosted a two-and-a-half-day event, the Canadian Metadata Forum. The theme, “Metadata-A Reality Check” was addressed by over twenty speakers and panelists before an audience of experts in information resource description and management for the Web across many information domains (libraries, archives and museums) and in a variety of formats (text, data sets and multimedia). The goal of the program was to increase understanding of the information discovery challenges posed by the World Wide Web and the benefits of improving alignment of descriptive standards across the domains to improve information sharing.
