Abstract

The pressure from the less developed countries for a more equitable international economic order has not as yet generated a significant response from the developed countries. The Government of Canada has altered some of its rhetoric but in the fields of commodity policies, market access for manufactures, international monetary reform and technology transfer, it has not significantly altered traditional approaches. Enlightened self-interest in reducing global disorder and uncertainty should lead Canada to adopt more accommodating policy positions in these spheres.
