Abstract
Abstract Similar to the consequences of the evangelical far right's insistence on dispensational fantasies and Zionist absolutism, the revival of far left evangelical pacifism is also worrisome. Rather than re-examining their continued political losses and recognizing the real security threat of totalitarian Islam, many left-wing evangelical Christians buy into the agenda of leftists like Michael Moore and institutions like MoveOn. They see America as the evil empire and call for absolute pacifism. Evangelicals in the center will do well to reflect on Peter Beinart's opinion that wresting the Democratic Party from the heirs of Henry Wallace will require a sustained battle, one that “entails the painful tack of abandoning the unity-at-all-costs ethos.”
