Abstract
Based on their experience in the UK pump industry, David Bryden and Brian Nesbitt explain the problems encountered when changing manufacturing locations, particularly for the production of engineered pump packages. In this first of two parts they examine the differences between the mass production of bare-shaft pumps and pump units and the manufacture of pump packages, and consider the issues leading to the provision of a quotation.
