Abstract

Calvarial hyperostosis syndrome is a proliferative, non-neoplastic, self-limiting osteopathy characterized by a production of new bone at the flat bones of the skull (frontal and parietal). This condition occurs in young dogs, up to 1 year old, most of the cases presented in the literature belong to the Bullmastiff breed, but the disease also affects other breeds. Clinical signs and imaging findings, supplemented by histological examination, provide important information for establishing a diagnosis. Usually, the prognosis is favorable and the recommended treatment is symptomatic.
