Abstract

The enthalpies of solution of benzene in water at 288.15, 293.15, 298.15, and 303.15 K have been determined by a novel flow-microcalorimetric technique. The apparatus is so designed that precisely measured aliquots (1 to 5 mm 3) of the slightly soluble solute are injected into the solvent flow in the calorimeter. From the results ΔC p and the partial molar specific heat capacity, C p, 2 o(198.15 K), for benzene have been calculated.
