Abstract

Time passes fast. Ten years ago when in an office of the newly created ASAB Faculty of Arts, in the center of Bogota, we met with Maria Elvira Rodriguez, Ricardo Arcos-Palma, Liliana Cortes and Ricardo Lambuley to think about the academic focus of a new journal of arts and of course it is to also look for a name for it. While we were going out for a coffee, the spatial imagination of Liliana Cortes suggested the name Calle14. She easily made us see the analogy between an urban road that marks our location as a faculty and a magazine, since both are means of free circulation, one of people and vehicles and the other of knowledge and knowledge; both are undoubtedly spaces for the construction of the public sphere. In this period, the authors and readers with their wide response have been responsible for making viable the Calle14 project, ensuring its consolidation as one of the most recognized academic art journals in Colombia. The many readers and collaborators in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and other places in the world are the evidence of this assertion. And this is confirmed by the citation indicators, the demand of the printed version and the number of visits of the digital version of free access.
