Featuring world-class content that covers innovative and expanding applications at the intersection of space science, engineering, policy, and business, the Journal encourages the growth of rapidly expanding enterprises and products that will advance knowledge, benefit society and improve the way we live.We are organizing a Special Issue on New Space: The rise of Space 2.0 in India and would like to invite you to contribute to this comprehensive collection of articles. India recently announced major reforms in its space sector with the formation of a new autonomous body called Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to support the private space industry to conduct end-to-end space missions and provide services. Earlier in 2017, the Department of Space (DOS), Government of India had issued a draft ‘Space Activities Bill’ with the intention of supporting the needs of New Space startups who are looking to independently develop space-based services and products for the first time in India. This is an exciting time of rapid changes in innovation, entrepreneurship and policies in a country where government had dominated space activities for over six decades. For this Special issue, we invite you to submit abstracts which address the highlighted policy gaps, identified through the contest as priority areas, either utilizing an Indian lens, highlighting Indian perspectives or that will be of relevance to India's space future. The Special Issue will focus on the following areas of interest, which include, but are not limited to: Perspectives of New Space actors and their needs to thriveIntegration of space-based services into the Indian economyCritiques of the draft Space Activities Bill and recommendations for changesPolicy and institutional actions required for New Space to be successful in IndiaInnovation and entrepreneurship development specific to New Space in IndiaDevelopment of space science, space hubs and outreach through the New Space lensHuman resource development for New Space catering to diversity and inclusivityContributions will receive prompt and thorough peer review.
