Abstract

M. Belinda Tucker (Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, University of California, Los Angeles) and Ann C. Crouter (Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Pennsylvania State University) will be the guest editors of a special issue of Family Relations on enduring couples in varying sociocultural contexts. Papers are due by January 2, 2007 for publication in Volume 57(2) of Family Relations, April 2008. This special journal issue will explore ethnic and sociocultural variations in couple longevity from multiple disciplinary perspectives using a range of research strategies. Topics to be considered include, but are not limited to, ethnic and sociocultural variations/similarities in relationship processes and factors affecting relationship endurance, as well as aspects of sociocultural contexts that facilitate or hinder relationship longevity. Examinations of the construct of longevity in contemporary unions are also encouraged. The issue will contain 10-12 peer-reviewed articles that use sound research methods. Non-empirical papers will be considered, but should have a strong theoretical basis and include implications for intervention and new directions for research. Papers that are data-based should demonstrate theoretical underpinnings, thereby linking ideas and data. Preference will be given to papers that explicitly link theory, research, and professional practice. The special issue guest editors encourage potential authors to contact them regarding ideas for submissions. Contact Information, Guest Editors for the Special Collection: M.
