Abstract
A descriptive study was conducted using cross section techniques (quantitatively, the WHOQOL - BREF (WHO version 1998) and qualitative, focus groups, With the objective of identifying which is the perception that older adults incorporated into grandparents circles on their quality of life. The study is performed on a sample of 72 elderly of Alamar population, Habana del Este, residents in the health area of Polyclinic “Dr. Mario Escalona Reguera, Havana province, The concept of Quality of Life is defi ned in terms of welfare, satisfaction, enjoyment, joy, expectation and happiness perceived by themselves, use of resources and acceptance of the limitations of this life stage. The factors that most infl uence their quality of life are: hygiene, food, medicine, health services, economy, housing, Social Security law, transportation, accessibility to health and / or social and recreation services. The older the adults, they perceive worse quality in their lives. Key words: elderly, quality of life.
