Abstract

This work is dedicated to the problem statement of the calibration method for the precision electrical impedance measurement system. Improving the accuracy of measurements is a top priority in the development of the electrical impedance technics. The proposed calibration method is designed for a new generation of electrical impedance measurement system without division into base and pulse channels. It is suggested to calibrate the resistance not only between the potential unit electrodes but also between the current-carrying electrodes to take into account the load on the current source when the electrode-tissue contact resistance increases. This paper presents an experimental estimation of the error that occurs if the electrical impedance measurement system is calibrated without reference resistances between current-carrying electrodes. Thus, the proposed calibration method has an advantage over pre-existing methods, as it allows to exclude this error and improve the accuracy of the system. The description of the calibration method also includes the main equations for estimating the linearity of the amplitude characteristic, the noise parameters, and the Nyquist plot.
