Abstract

A linearized theory on the wave resistance of ships, the draught of which is as small as the beam is presented. Some numerical results are obtained from the theory and the comparison of the computed and measured values shows a satisfactory agreement. The problem of the least resistance is discussed with respect to a special class of ship forms.
