Abstract
Because of its large Gruneisen constant, U2D2 solid 3He is a very appropriate system to study the magnon–phonon coupling in a nuclear spin system. I calculate the sound velocity changes caused by magnon–phonon coupling with the second quantization method. The Hamiltonian is expanded with magnon operators by using the Holstein–Primakoff transformation for antiferromagnets. The attenuation of the sound is also calculated. The results are compared with the measurements of Nomura et al.
