Abstract
A generalised influence function method is introduced using tabulated weighting factors in subsidence calculation. Tabulated weighting factors have the advantage of being more flexible than having to find a mathematical influence function. The values of weighting factors can be readily adopted either using a local observational database if available, or a published data source. The flexibility and adoptability of the method is demonstrated through a case study with subsidence contours, movement vectors and principal strains. It is also demonstrated that the method is a valuable tool in assessing subsidence effects on surface structures and utilities.
