Abstract

Precise calculation of iron loss and stray losses is significant to research and development of high efficient motor. Therefore, taking a 710kW high-voltage induction motor as an example, on the basis of field-circuit coupled time-stepping finite element method, the 2-D transient mathematical model of the prototype is built to calculate the iron loss and stray losses. The iron loss calculation method based on Bertotti iron loss separate model, considering both the alternating and rotating fields, the stray losses are also calculated based on finite element method, after calculation, the distribution graphs of losses are made. The application shows that the distribution of losses in the motor can be effectively analyzed using finite element method, thereby providing the basis of analysis for motor performance, the results are very valuable for loss prediction.
