Abstract
Difficulties with calculations of intense localized perturbations such as black control rod insertion in PWR reactors have been reported in the literature. This paper presents a procedure which overcomes the problem by adequately choosing a reference configuration. A 1-D, two-group calculation of a seven-region PWR reactor with two control rod positions is presented as an illustration
