Abstract
Since the question of conference fees has been raised again in recent letters to the Editor (see also p419) it would perhaps be of interest to members to explain how fees are arrived at. In carrying out the calculations the staff of the Meetings Department work closely with the organizing committee of the conference (a different committee, of course, for every conference).
