Abstract

DC distribution network has become the development trend of power distribution system in the future due to its flexible control, high stability and good power quality. As a protection device for DC distribution network, DC circuit breaker is of great significance to the stability and safety of DC distribution network. In this paper, based on the existing DC hybrid circuit breaker circuit topology, the voltage and current of the DC circuit breaker ZnO energy absorbing element during the breaking of different fault currents are calculated. Therefore, the energy that needs to be absorbed by the ZnO energy absorbing element during the breaking process is calculated. The results of this paper can be used to guide the selection of the ZnO arrester in the DC circuit breaker, thereby improving the breaking capacity and reliability of the DC circuit breaker.
