Abstract

Sheet pile with relieving platform is new type of retaining structure which has been successfully used for reinforcing slopes in Shenzhen city, China. The stress and deformation of sheet pile with relieving platform are very complex owing to the existence of relieving platform. In this paper, the authors divide the sheet pile with relieving platform into loaded segment and anchored segment and developed a numerical model to calculate the inner force and deformation of the sheet pile with relieving platform. Finally, the authors use FEM model and fielding monitoring data to investigate the effectiveness of the newly developed calculation model.
