Abstract

Cobb-Douglas production function model was exerted to calculate the contribution rate of science and technology advancement to flue-cured tobacco production and to analyze the relation between production factors and flue-cured tobacco output. Data was taken from China's flue-cured tobacco production during 1983 to 2007 period. Results show that the contribution rate of science and technology advancement to flue-cured tobacco production was 57.55%. Factors such as planting area,labor employment,and sales price had positive effects on flue-cured tobacco production,while factors such as climate change and material investment had negative effects. Land productivity tended to be steady,fund investment productivity was still not high,and the technique advancement mode depended on economical labor predominantly. Some countermeasures and suggestions on stable development of flue-cured tobacco production were proposed,i.e. planning management strictly,pushing science and technology advancement,enhancing the usage efficiency of fund investment,making good use of the modern equipment level,and building up farmland insurance mechanism.
