Abstract
An analytical method to calculate efficient noise resistance of RF coils in low field MRI systems is presented. Coil self-resistance and sample resistance are evaluated respectively. Using this method, efficient noise at 12.72 MHz of solenoid coil and square-shaped surface coil are calculated. The results show that the coil self-resistance and sample resistance of surface coils are comparable. Thus, both parts of efficient resistance should be calculated when optimizing signal-to-noise ratio to design geometries of RF coils. DOI: 10.2529/PIERS061007080309
