Abstract

Starting from the crystalline structure optimized with respect to the internal geometry we investigate the optical properties of anthracene up to 10.2 GPa within density functional theory. Using the random phase approximation we calculate the frequency-dependent complex dielectric tensor for several pressure values. We observe a red-shift of the absorption spectrum as a function of pressure, which is in good agreement with literature data.
