Calcaneal fracture fixation Impact of age on outcomes

Abstract

Summary Evidence on the impact of age on outcomes after fixation of calcaneal fractures from two retrospective cohort studies suggests that outcomes of older patients are similar to or slightly better than those of younger patients.Functional outcomes appeared to be better,and there were no significant differences in complications.The question remains as to differences in fracture severity which may confound the results between those patients of 50 years or older,and those younger than 50 years,with younger patients more likely sustaining more severe injuries。
