Abstract
Hon Ba Natural Reserve is considered as an unique area in Vietnam that remains relatively primitive structure of plant communities and forest landscape from a height of 150 m to 1,500 m altitude. The research results provide data on the structural characteristics of typical plant communities of Hon Ba Natural Reserve. Accordingly, the structure of plant communities has a high level of diversity, including plant communities in the lowland valleys, on slopes under 1,000 m, and on the top of mountain. The historical and stable development of the area has created several types of mixed subtropical plant communities with precious, rare coniferous species, such as plant communities of mixed broadleaf species with Ducampopinus krempfii and with Fokienia hodginsii. Canopy structure of plant communities usually has from 2 - 4 stories, but it is not follow clearly rule. In addition, soil properties, hydrological conditions of forest soil influence quite markedly on species composition, structure and morphology of plant communities of Hon Ba Natural Reserve.
