Abstract

SUMMARYC-band analysis and karyotype measurements, in some Anchusa species, have been performed and the results are compared with those obtained in a previous report. C-bands are generally telomeric or centromeric in diploid species, while contrasting trends characterize polyploid taxa. In A. italica there is more heterochromatin and many C-bands are interstitial; in A. arvensis no heterochromatic segment is visible. These differences may represent the nucleotypic aspect of the different life form attained by these plants.
