Abstract

Abstract Russia and Eastern Europe are undergoing tumultuous changes. The educational system plays a vital role in social changes; it can support or undermine change. To better understand the role of education in the transition from communism to capitalism and democracy, we surveyed business and economics students in Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, and the former Yugoslavia. For purposes of comparison, we surveyed students in France and the United States, as well. Our results provide valuable insight on the adequacy of business and economic education in the formerly communist countries from the perspective of current business students.
