Abstract

A new assessment, conducted by nutrition and environmental scientists within the dairy sector, underscores the need to improve the characterization and reporting of nutrition and health outcomes in the context of food system transformation. To date, global stakeholders have more narrowly prioritized the environmental aspects of sustainable food production and diets. The urgent next step is to draw from established nutrition/health-focused frameworks to align global stakeholders around a consistent set of metrics and indicators that are measurable and evidence-based and accurately reflect benefits and harms to public nutrition and health.
