Abstract
Although oriented mainly towards the situation in his country, this article by the Director of the Austrian Institute for Building Research has a wider relevance. It describes the dangers in the growing fragmentation of design and in the separation of production and assembly operations, and urges more uniform and consistent methods of quality control in building.
