Abstract
Three new N-(5-amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrimidineamine Cd(II) coordination polymers, namely, {[Cd(AMPPA)2(H2O)2]·(NO3)2·H2O}n (1), {[Cd(AMPPA)2(ipa)]·2H2O}n (2) and {[Cd(AMPPA)2(Hbtc)]·2H2O}n (3) (AMPPA = N-(5-amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrimidineamine, H2ipa = isophthalic acid and H3btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 exhibits one dimension (1D) coordination polymers when only the AMPPA ligand was employed. With the introduction of the building blocks (H2ipa and H3btc) into the reaction system of 1, complexes 2 with 2D layer and 3 with 3D networks were isolated, respectively. The effect of the building blocks in the construction of complexes 1–3 has been discussed. In addition, all complexes display strong luminescence in the solid state. Three N-(5-Amino-2-methylphenyl)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-pyrimidineamine cadmium coordination polymers have been designed and isolated by the introduction of the building blocks of H2ipa and H3btc featuring 1D chain, 2D layer and 3D network with strong luminescence in the solid state.
