Abstract

ASEARCH for more effective means of controlling outbreaks of the Mormon cricket, Anabrus simplex Hald., has disclosed, among other things, a lack of fundamental knowledge regarding the physiology of these insects. Recent studies have shown that the composition of insect body fluids may play an important role in the toxicity of insecticides. The investigation described in this paper was initiated to study the properties of the blood and regurgitated digestive juice of the Mormon cricket.
