Abstract

Objective To observe the serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with stage Ⅲb-Ⅳ gastric cancer (GC) treated with Brucea javanica oil emulsion combined with Tiggio capsule + oxaliplatin (SOX) chemotherapy regimen and the impact on quality of life. Methods Eighty-six patients with stage Ⅲb-Ⅳ GC treated in our hospital were enrolled, and were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, 42 cases for each group. The control group was treated with SOX chemotherapy, and the observation group was treated with Brucea javanica oil emulsion on the basis of the control group. The efficacy, adverse reaction rate, serum levels of CEA and VEGF before and after treatment, and the European Cancer Research and Treatment Organization (EORTC) Quality of Life Core Questionnaire (QLQ-C30) score were compared. Results The effective rate of the observation group was 66.67% (28/42), which was higher than that of the control group [42.86% (18/42)] (P 0.05). Conclusion Brucea javanica oil emulsion combined with SOX chemotherapy can improve the therapeutic effect and quality of life and reduce the levels of serum CEA and VEGF of patients with stage Ⅲb-Ⅳ GC, and is safe. Key words: Gastric cancer; Brucea javanica oil emulsion; SOX chemotherapy regimen; Carcinoembryonic antigen; Vascular endothelial growth factor; Adverse reactions
