Abstract
ABSTRACTSodium metavanadate has pyroxene-type one dimensional VO4-tetrahedral chains, which is analogous to the SiO4-chains in Bi2SiO5. Although it is known to undergo ferroelectric phase transition, its mechanism has not been clarified. This paper shows the spectroscopic results of simultaneous measurement of Raman/Brillouin scattering by utilizing ultra-narrowband holographic notch filters. The spectroscopic anomalies accompanying to the phase transition were observed for the first time in both Raman and Brillouin regimes.
