Abstract

Dielectric properties of water adsorbed in pure siliceous mesoporous MCM-41 material with pore diameter of 3.7 nm have been investigated in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 1 MHz for temperature interval from 100 K to 400 K. The dielectric spectra revealed three dispersion regions of characteristic shape. Analysis of relaxation processes showed that dynamics of water molecules is strongly affected by interaction with the pore surface. Two types of water—relatively free water in the centers of mesopores and “bound” water on the pore surface—can be distinguished.
