Abstract

Broad band 32 element circular array using printed circuit slot as radiators has been designed and developed. The array works over the complete frequency band of X through Ku band. Problems and criticalities in realising the array are discussed. Experimental studies regarding matching and radiation behaviour of elements in array environment have been carried out and results are presented. A method has also been suggested for reducing the mutual coupling between array elements. Array was used to study the radiation behaviour by energizing uniformly four, eight and sixteen elements and measured results are presented over the band. Results show that the full array when excited uniformly, will generate omni directional pattern over the band in horizontal plane.
