Abstract
Britoil's experience with the installation of a Johnson Controls building management system at their new 500 000 sq ft purpose‐built headquarters in Glasgow offers some useful lessons for potential BMS users. The inclusion of the BMS was one of the three facets of the new building's proposed ‘intelligence’: the capacity to accommodate change; the use of an integral computer based management system and the capacity to accommodate computer based information and communications systems.
