Abstract
Temperature dependent measurements of the Brillouin spectrum of CBr 4 through the plastic-liquid transition show no softening of either the longitudinal or transverse acoustic phonon modes but a sharp discontinuity in the longitudinal phonon velocity at this phase transition.
