Abstract
A novel compact branch line strip loaded inverted-F antenna (IFA) for penta-band application is proposed. A pair of spiral-shaped strip resonators are connected to one end of the patch and the other side of the patch is grounded which acts as the branch line strip loaded IFA antenna. This branch line design is mainly responsible for the compact size and the penta-band operations. The total size of the antenna is (20 × 18 × 0.8) mm3 and fabricated on cheap FR4 substrate. The simulated results are well matched with the fabricated results of the antenna. The proposed antenna operates in global positioning system (GPS)/S-band applications/worldwide interoperability for microwave access (Wi-MAX)/5G/wireless local area network (WLAN) bands.
