Abstract

The configuration of the Dauphiné twin boundary, which was formed in the cooling process of the heat treatment of natural quartz with the β–α phase transition, was investigated by X-ray diffraction topography at room temperature and by computer simulation. Comparing the image from the section topograph of the Dauphiné twin wall with the image drawn by computer simulation, the part of the Dauphiné twin wall imaged by topography revealed a slight concave. It is concluded that the concave plane approximately corresponds to the envelope of the real boundary wall.
