Abstract

The nonleptonic weak decay amplitudes of hyperons are calculated within the bound kaon approach to strangeness in the Skyrme model proposed by Callan and Klebanov. It is shown that the approach exhibits the ΔI= 1 2 rule in the transition naturally. Relative values of the matrix elements are similar to those of the collective coordinate approach, in spite of no explicit SU (3) symmetry in the model.
