Abstract

M. Jean Borlin, bastard son of the king of Sweden, has come to Paris to show us his thighs and his navel. ... In one of his latest choreographic manifestations [L'Homme et son desir], he appears completely naked. Naked women, on stage, that finally can be understood. It is permissible for a daughter of Eve to believe herself well enough made to show her nakedness to all passersby; and besides, women have no shame, everyone knows that.... The naked man is permissible only as a gladiator.... In any case, leave us alone with all these polar choreographies! Or, at least, please show us only female dancers. Enough male dancers! And I'm surprised that a poilu [French World War I soldier] has not yet protested against these exhibitions of hairless bodies.*
