Abstract

This handbook is a comprehensive source of information concerning acute and chronic wounds with particular reference to patients with cancer. It covers the anatomy of the skin, the physiology of wound healing, patient assessment and record-keeping. Considerable detail is given of specific wound types and choice of wound dressings. The appendices include the functions of the various generic products cited. For nurses working in palliative care there is clear acknowledgement of the circumstances in which wound healing may not be a viable outcome for patients and principles of palliative care are outlined.
