Silvio Mattacchiono & Co., Port Perry, Ontario, CANADA. 397 pp. ISBN 1-895270-16-2.Poultry of the World should be of interest to fanciers, as it contains numerous excellent color photographs, with brief descriptions, arranged by country, of most of the world's breeds of fowl. It includes chickens, ducks, and geese, but no turkeys. Fully one-half of the book is taken up in this manner. The remainder of the book is largely folklore and anecdotes, with very little science.Chapter 1 “History of Poultry” contains a section entitled “Chronology of Poultry History.” The first notation is 3,000 B.C., and indicates that four species of wild chickens and domesticated chickens were found in Southeast Asia. Further on, it is noted that the World Poultry Science Association was founded in 1921, but no mention is made that the [U.S.] Poultry Science Association was founded in 1908 or …
