Abstract

Objective To study the changes of bone mineral density and bone metabolism index in patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus and abnormal bone metabolism for providing evidence in early screening of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 210 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who were treated in Shenzhen Hospital of Peking University from January 2016 to June 2017 were selected as the study subjects. According to T value, patients were divided into type 2 diabetes mellitus with abnormal bone metabolism group (DOP group, 104 cases) and type 2 diabetes mellitus without abnormal bone metabolism group(T2DM group, 106 cases). The bone mineral density and bone metabolism index were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with T2DM group, bone mineral density of femoral neck and L2-L4 lumbar vertebrae in DOP group was significantly lower (P 0.05). Conclusions Many biochemical indexes of bone metabolism and bone mineral density in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and abnormal bone metabolism have obvious changes. It suggests that these indexes can be used as bases for early screening of type 2 diabetes mellitus with abnormal bone metabolism. Key words: Type 2 diabetes mellitus; Osteoporosis; Bone mineral density; Bone metabolism
