Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of the talk is to identify the physical and behavioural characteristics likely to be associated with bone stress injury. Over the past decades many risk factors for bone stress injury have been reported for athlete and military populations. The data on which those reports have been based, however, has not always been of the highest quality. The result has been a plethora of suspects but a dearth of certainty around the biological, morphological, behavioural, and functional characteristics that should be the focus of preventative and therapeutic measures for bone stress injury.
