Abstract

This article explores into the definition and meaning of the Bologna Process which is, in very general terms, the nomination of activities aiming to create the Common European Higher Education Area (CEHEA) during the period 1999–2010. It deals with the rationales for the new plans and policy actions called upon to transform higher education in Europe. The modernization of European universities is observed as a paradigm of socioeconomic and political changes. This article looks at the problems and challenges that reforms of European higher education structures meet in, and after, the Bologna Process.
