Abstract
In this paper we confirm a conjecture of Flaschka which relates the hierarchy of Poisson brackets and master symmetrie sf or the Bogoyavlesky–Toda systems of type Dn with fundamental invariants of the corresponding Lie group. The areas investigated include master symmetries, recursion operators, higher Poisson brackets and invariants. The results are presented both in Flaschka coordinates (a, b) and i nt henatural (q, p) coordinates.
