Abstract

Introduction. Both aging and the menopausal transition bear adverse implications to vascular function and structure. Physical activity is regarded as a successful strategy, in an attempt to control the age-related cardiovascular burden. The possible association between the intensity of physical activity and subclinical vascular function and structure is only inconsistently described in small studies of postmenopausal women. We aimed to explore the link between the metabolic and vascular profile of healthy postmenopausal women exposed to different levels of intensity of physical activity.
