Abstract
Abstract It is shown that a solution of quasi-linear wave equation ∂ 2 t u − Δu = (∂ t u) 2 in two space dimensions, with the initial functions of compact support, blows up in finite time. This is a complement to John's result on blow-up of solutions for ∂ 2 t u − Δu = (∂ t u) 2 in three dimensions.
