Abstract

A neutral carrier based solvent polymeric membrane electrode selective for hydrogen ions leads to standard deviations for single measurements of the pH in blood samples and related buffers of 0.001 to 0.003 pH units. The pH values obtained by this electrode on 35 blood samples correlate with those measured with a glass electrode with a correlation coefficient of 0.998 and a residual standard deviation of 0.01 pH units.
