Abstract

In reply to Dr Beevers' 'Blind leading the blind' plea for action in the April issue of Physics Bulletin, it may be of interest for him to learn that a considerable amount of fundamental research and development work on aids for the blind has been undertaken by numerous workers for many years and reported at meetings and conferences of the Biological Engineering Society, and at meetings of the Joint Institution of Electrical Engineers and Institution of Electronic and Radio Engineers Medical and Biological Electronics Group, and also internationally at most of the conferences of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering. Such work is continuing.
